Late and Absence

If your child is going to be late or absent from nursery, please call or text to let the staff know. If no one answers the call, please leave a message and someone will call you back..

Please note our nursery office phone number is 01382 307877 and our mobile is 07765 194892 .

When receiving a call from nursery office it will display on your phone as an unknown number.

Please answer your calls, if not a text from the school office will be sent asking you to contact the nursery. It is very important that the nursery staff are able to contact parents and families in case of emergencies.

Drop off and Collection Points

Drop off and collection though the main entrance of the school. Please ring the bell marked Rowantree Nursery and someone will buzz you through to the nursery main door where you will then escort your child to their playroom.

If later than 9:20am I member off staff will meet you at the nursery doors and then take your child into the playroom. We ask that all morning session and core session children try to be in before 9:20am so as not to interrupt the play and flow or routine within the nursery.

Arrival and Collection of children

In the interests of safety, we would ask that you please remember the following points:

  • All adults who are allowed to collect children must be logged on children’s emergency contacts, Please inform a member of staff if there is a different adult collecting them that day, and council policy states that they must be over 16years of age.
  • You are reminded that your child is your responsibility  before you hand them over to their key worker and after you have collected them from their key worker at the  end of the day.
  • Please, do not let anyone into the school, leave this to the staff.

Health Care

Parents are asked to inform the nursery by phone (01382 307877 or 07765 194892) of their child’s absence. Advice may be given if required with regards to how long to keep their child off.

To contain contagious diseases like diarrhoea and/or sickness, we ask parents to keep their child off nursery for at least

48 hours after the last bout of illness.

Please do not bring your child into nursery if you know they are unwell.

If your child has a minor injury at nursery a member of staff will treat the injury, record it on an accident form and inform you when you come to collect your child. Please sign the accident form after you have been informed of the injury.

If they sustain a bump to the head, regardless of how slight, we will follow council procedures and phone you to inform you.

Allergies/Special Diets

The nursery should be informed in writing of any diet restrictions or allergies that your child has. This information will be displayed appropriately for all staff.

Medicines

Any medication which a child requires should be given before or after the nursery session. Nursery staff will not administer any medicines unless advised by your family doctor.  If this is necessary, please inform staff before they start and you will be given the appropriate forms.

Please see Michele Kay who will help you to complete the relevant paperwork.

Children’s Play

The children have access to free play for most of their day at nursery, this includes outdoor play all year round so please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

There are also a range of messy play and art activities that the children are encouraged to take part in—often resulting in messy clothing. Please remember to dress your children in comfortable clothes you do not mind getting messy.

Can we also ask that you write your child’s name on their items.

Family Involvement

Throughout the year we hope to be running several activities which parents, carers and siblings can be involved in.

In the past these have included:

  • Stay & Play Days
  • Blether & Biscuit Chats
  • Parents Evening
  • Eat Well Play Well
  • Sports Day
  • Leavers Assembly
  • Book Bug
  • Key Group Parents Activities

If at any point in the year you wish to speak with your child’s Key Worker or the Nursery Teacher, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we can organise a meeting or telephone call.

Alternatively, you can catch the staff at the beginning or end of the children’s nursery sessions, the majority of the staff are available from 9am to 4pm.
